What is the Storm Surge Zones Map?

The FDEM Storm Surge Zones Map displays layers from regional evacuation studies and are intended for general reference. These layers are meant to provide emergency management officials with realistic data by quantifying the major factors in hurricane evacuation decision making.


How do I view the Storm Surge Zones Map?

From the Forerunner FDEM home page, click "Explore Map." Once in the map viewer, The Storm Surge Zones Map layer is available by clicking the Map Layers button in the bottom right hand corner of the map viewer of the FDEM Forerunner Public website. The layer can be found under the "FDEM Layers" subheading. Click the toggle to the right of the layer name to turn the layer on or off. For optimal viewing, it is recommended that you turn off the Preliminary or Effective FIRM Flood Layers (under the "Flood Layers" subheading in the Map Layers panel).
